The fire began just after 8 p.m., Monday, July 22, in the two-story, wood-frame home. said Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department Public Information Officer Jack Casey.
Arriving firefighters found a large volume of smoke pushing from the attic, calling for a full response from the "Ant Hill Mob," the department said.
As the firefighters fought the flames, they also searched for victims, Casey said.
The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes with most of the damage contained to the room of origin, the department said.
There were no injuries to civilians or first responders, the cause of the fire is still pending.
Also on the scene were the Carmel Police, Lake Carmel Fire Department, and EMStar.
